Corn Mash
Saturday, March 6th at The Sunset Junction

corn mashThey had us laughing fairly quick when they announced that they were sorry they were only a three piece tonight. Their sax player quit yesterday and the Inlander made them seem like a gypsy 8 piece. I was okay with that, it was a very musically tight three piece at that. With harmonies, an organ (it looked like a beast to tour with), a bongo, and an acoustic guitar it was fast paced and perfect for a beer drinking crowd at a bar! They managed to play originals and covers from artists like Johnny Cash, Buffalo Springfield, the Big W - Waylon Jennings, and more!

Nothing like a Johnny Cash song to get the crowd going at the Junction, man people were hollering and I think even at one point there were some ladies out dancing on the floor. They were singing a song about beer and dogs and how you shouldn’t give beer to your dog when a lady yells “I Do” as she is leaving the bar. Priceless. At one point during their set some guys behind us were arguing over whether they should play (like they had the choice but anyways), whether they should play REO Speedwagon or Marty Robbins. I would pick Marty Robbins over REO Speedwagon any day of the week.

I thought it was super cool that the organ player also rocked an accordion! I haven’t seen an accordion in a long time, they are such a neat instrument. Corn Mash was perfect for the Junction, and perfect for dancing. I enjoyed how it was acoustic the entire night too; no electric guitar yet still packed a punch like an electric would. The band even said “at one point we are going to get you all dancing!” This is a fun band to see live, that also have nifty posters! Check out when you can – it will be a talented rowdy good time!
