Empyrean Grand Opening

Goodbye Madison; HELLO Washington. I was extremely surprised when I walked into the new Empyrean! A) It looks nothing like the Big Dipper and B) The Empyrean presence still lives on inside the new building. A lot of changes this year with Spokane’s lovely scene and I think this is going to be a positive one.

When you first walk in I noticed the wonderful DIY rustically warm wood floors to the right. The room is bright and open with a nice flow. Then as my eyes wandered around the room the colors were warm and cozy with a burnt crème brule colored ceiling, deep blue walls with caramel colored table tops all in the coffee bar. The coffee bar was perfectly complemented with soft blue framed chalkboard menus, the middle frame showing an owl holding a coffee cup saying welcome to the Empyrean! All of the chairs were reupholstered by the crafty Michelle with some great vintage fabric and there are some new tables.

The kitchen was great in a bright orange with a soft blue trim, complete with a pizza oven! Plus they crew will be cooking up some homemade soups, pasta salads, pizzas, and more treats soon for our tummy’s to enjoy. Local artist Tiffany Patterson painted the doors to the boys and girls bathrooms with her signature looking people; which fit the room like a glove.

We managed to catch Bodhi Drip for a few songs and they inspired girls to dance with hula hoops to their psychedelic jam band sound. Then Henry and Vaughn played together with new songs and some new instruments – I think we only recognized one of the songs; they still sounded eerily striking.

There are a lot of colors to see and little details to find at the new space. I look forward to spending more evenings at the Empyrean catching live music and I encourage you to walk on over and check it out, you will be surprised! Great job everyone!
