London Get Down & Everclear
2.19.10 | The Knitting Factory

london get downFor a Spokane band London Get Down had quite the crowd reaction coming out on stage. Have they been to London, or where did they get the name? I like it but I am always curious to band names. One of the first things I wrote down was that they had an awesome energy. They came out ready to play and to have some fun; they didn't act cocky or anything like that. They do have their shit wired tight, the vocals sounded clear and every note was hit. It was fast, heavy, and a bit spunky. I was kind of bummed because they had these really funny nicknames for each member in the band but it was hard to hear them, so I wasn't able to jot them down. Something about sex, stain, I dunno.

Anyhow Rock 94 and a half is playing their song "The Separation" which is a pretty cool thing; there were a lot of hits on their myspace page for it! I couldn't make up my mind on which song I liked the most. I am going to have to keep listening! Even Art from Everclear dugg the band a lot! It was a cool set complete with good music, jokes, video cameras, and crowd interaction - Hey Ho (both sides were good!!)!

everclearEverclear took some time to get out on stage but the second they came out the crowd went nuts! It was really cool to see how excited people were to see Everclear and it was a pretty full house! They opened up with "So Much For the Afterglow" and in case you do not know the song it is this super fast lil almost punkish song that is perfect for jumping around! PERFECT song to open up with! Just like London Get Down, Everclear was jacked to be playing a show for the Knitt. Art had the biggest smile on his face the entire night! It was one song after another going into "Father of Mine" as the second song in which a majority of the crowd sang over Art! The crowd was all ages too.

We were behind a kid and it was his first concert; his dad took them and they bought matching Everclear shirts (pretty awesome). It was a good crowd to no jerks or anything like that. "Heroin Girl" was the third song played and as soon as Art said we are going to play a song off Sparkle and Fade the crowd went nuts. He was like wait wait I didn't even tell you the song - guess it didn't matter.

everclearEverclear has been around for awhile and they are still rocking it hard, Art didn't stop. Besides hearing your favorite Everclear hits, we also got to hear Art rock it solo on an acoustic guitar (was a treat). Plus the band was going through a melody of openings to classic songs we all know and at one point they grabbed a kid out of the audience and they told him okay you have to sing this song, hope you know it! It was Rock N Roll By Led Zeppelin and the kid fucking nailed it, it was so awesome!! I do not have the balls to do that, but holy crap loved that kid! After playing all of those cover songs Art said "I know I am old and shit but we are not a cover band." Anyhow it was a super fun night and it was cool to see Everclear who has been around is 1992 and they are still rocking it to a full house in Spokane.
