Finding Fiction
Art Music & More on September 11th

finding fictionAfter working with Finding Fiction's street team hero Sam for a couple of weeks, recording a podcast with the band, and reviewing their latest album Idaho by the Sea; we were excited to check out the show. I have been to Art Music and More to see local artwork; but neither Matt nor I have seen a show there.

As Matt said the venue was something that seemed like it was out of a big city. It is located on Second and its brick walls are covered in Art while cartoons were playing without sound on a large screen, very hip for Spokane. We had to work at the fair for a while so we missed most of the bands but were in time for Finding Fiction. They are the nicest guys and their story is interesting. You should check out Jason's podcast with the band here.

The moment they played I felt like I could close my eyes and it seemed like we were back at Matt's listening to the album. They sounded flawless. I looked back at my notes and I wrote that "they are smooth and polished like my nana's silver." For being a band for a little over a year they already have an E.P. and a full album plus we got to hear a few news songs that haven't been recorded. They have their ducks in a row and can hammer out big city indie tunes like an architect.

finding fictionWe did get to hear most of the songs we wanted too like "I'll Buy," "Killing Time," and ending the night with "Them or Me." Though Matt missed out on his jam "Big Sky Blue," but that is okay just another reason on the list for us to see them again. I hope they can come back and play at another one of our venues. Their album Idaho by the Sea is a nice little indie gem that will grab you by the ears and drag you in after a listen.

It was a fun night. It was cool to finally meet the band and see them play in Spokane on such a historic New York day. I also would like to give the biggest high five to the singer from If I Had because he made everyone in the room get up off our asses and stand up in the front of the room, dance a little. That was wonderful.

It was the perfect show to see Friday night for an intimate group of hip indie kids. Thanks Dale from RAWK for bringing them in!
