GWAR
Knitting Factory on Saturday, November 28th

gwarI knew what I was getting myself into before I left home, but it still shocked me fifteen minutes into the set. Before I go into detail, I do believe that GWAR is something any music fan should experience… at least once.

The first time I saw GWAR I wore a white t-shirt and left bruised, tired, and blue-ish/purple (not because it was cold out either). There were dead babies, body parts, large cocks, and lots of fluids.

Tonight was all of that and more. GWAR had staff operating multiple video screens, a bundle of lights, and of course, the tubes and tubes of fake blood, urine, and well you know. Like always, everyone watched the count down until death when GWAR took over the stage!

gwarHowever, before the show started we got to watch “GWAR: Behind the Murder” which was based like VH1’s Behind the Music. It was hilarious; and told the audience about the struggles and story behind the thrash metal band from outer space, GWAR.

From Behind the Murder, we also learned that GLOMCO sponsored their reunion tour. In addition, that these monster musicians are in a love affair with crack; they even buy it by the wagon-full. And a Behind the Murder show wouldn’t be complete without a Sperm N’ Slide commercial (I will let your imagination figure that one out).

At least when you see GWAR you can understand the lyrics and the singing is not bad. As well, you get to see things like MJ rape a space baby with Oderus Urungus (singer). Then GWAR defaced MJ and let his blood cover the crowd. GWAR also defeated a twenty-foot tall robot. Besides, even though President Obama gave them award from being badass rockers, they still beheaded him. It is not a show for the easily offended.

gwarThe kids sang along, chanted crack, and rocked out to their single “Lost in Space.” The band has been around for a while and has a loyal fan base, which is growing. Matt even scored a green 45 record titled “Stripper Christmas Summer Weekend!” Perfect holiday gift!

You can see this band over and over and the set will always change and be current with today’s pop-culture. It is brilliant and extremely disturbing. Your jaw will be dropped yet you will still be rocking out waiting to see what’s going to happen next! When you get a chance grab a white tee and hit the floor to see GWAR!
