Tall Cool One!
The night started by a smooth drive over to Stateline, Idaho with Matt’s Hero, Coyote and his wonderfully sweet wife Jenny. The four of us arrived to the one of a kind Big Al’s for a night of country music and line dancing (we only watched the line dancing). Jennifer Lynn opened up for the night and had the crowd line dancing on the floor. I was impressed that she kept three-inch red stilettos on her whole set, owch. This was my first time out at Big Al’s (not working for the radio station) and the place was packed full of people and cigarette smoke. The smoke was a little much to handle, which lead to frequent outdoor visits. Must say I am mad I was not thinking and wore a dress; because they totally have a mechanical bull that had my name written all over it. Next time I am so there. It was good to see all of the KIX 96 Better Country kids that I have not seen in a while Big Dan, Country Cleatus, and their lovely women.
When James Otto took the stage all I could do was just shake my head in awe at how tall he is. He is almost seven feet tall. Like he said women don’t want no Kenny Chesney who is up to his nipples, you want someone who can take care of business. James and his band sounded super clear. They had their shit lined up and it was perfect. I am not the biggest country fan in the world, I do like it, but James Otto had me movin’ my cowboy boots and shakin’ my head during his whole set. He is a ladies man. He mentioned how 99% of the people at his shows are women. It is okay if a few guys show up, it’s just more for the rest of them! It was cool to see the steel guitar being played during some of his songs. Every single guy in his band is very talented. James Otto moved to Nashville twelve years ago and it took twelve years to an overnight success. James Otto had Big Al’s movin’ and I am sure he will do it again in the future. When he does be there with your boots on and get ready for a good time.
