Jamey Johnson
The Stage on Broadway | Nashville, Tennessee | 2.25.10

After seeing Jamey Johnson sing one song at the Ryman Theater showcase there was no way I was going to miss his show at The Stage the next night. The line outside for this show was one of the longest I’ve seen since I’ve been in Nashville. Everyone wanted to get into this show. Jamey took the stage and said something to the effect of we haven’t been here five minutes and this place is fucked up! Jamey has great true country songs. It’s my generations Johnny Cash for people that grew up listening to Rick Ruben produced Johnny Cash albums He’s Raw and Honest. Jamey has an amazing delivery where he is more of a story teller when he sings with an amazing voice when he gets to the chorus.

Everything about him is cool after each song he would give the pick to someone in the front row. He has some of the best lyrics around including “you can take my word but you can’t cash my checks” and “rich man don’t know a damn thing when a poor man gets the blues” his songs are just brilliant. He’s the most honest songwriter in Nashville. A few songs into his set he blew me away with an amazing cover of “Crazy”.

He brought up some friends including Randy Hauser and it was very respectful that he stayed on stage and watched them when he wasn’t performing with them. Listen to “That’s why I write songs” I heard it live two day in a row and it blew me away both times. I know in the future that will be a song I play on repeat for days.

I’m setting here trying to tell everyone how fantastic, raw, honest and talented Jamey Johnson is but his music speaks for his self and you should go check it out HERE!
