Marilyn Mason
Monday, August 31st at the Knitting Factory

Oh my fuck, I don't even know where to start. I didn't take notes. I just saw one of the artists I have idolized since I was 12 years old, that was nine years ago. My mom called me before the show, "...who are you going to see tonight?" I responded Marilyn Manson, my Mom says, "oh that freak? Have fun!" He was fifteen feet away from me. Freak no, music icon yes. I just saw Marilyn Mason. Second Date Added - 8/31 Marilyn Mason (It happened to be the first of two shows in town). Who forms a band in 92' and is still relevant enough to sell out a show in Spokane (which doesn't happen often) and fill the house on a second date?

The room filled with smoke as a black curtain hung from the lights on the stage at the Knitting Factory. I think I asked Matt what time it was about twelve times. I was so anxious for the show to start I probably drove him and Big Ed nuts. All the sudden the room went dark. For once I was actually on the floor not in the bar, I was here to see one of my favorite artists.

Opening with "We're From America" and closing with "Beautiful People" it was everything I wanted. There were hits, songs from today and yesterday. Burning a Bible, humping his microphone, sparkly confetti, paper confetti, and moving across the stage like a jack hammer. It was sexy, loud, and as Matt would say "fun as shit." I respect the fact that he said thank you over and over for us showing up, for supporting him.

marilyn mansonHis fans in Spokane though, they were cool. Cool enough to paint their faces, wear their shirts, and hold up their middle finger for over an hour. Moshing, dancing, and singing every fucking lyric to every fucking song. I didn't think I was ever going to see Marilyn Manson live. I thought he was too big to come to Spokane.

Besides saying thank you he would shake hands and talk to kids in the front row. I wanted to be in the front so bad, but other kids deserved it more then I did. They were probably in line since 5:30pm while I was at work.

Overall I left full of energy, oh my god's, and excitement. I wish I could get tickets to see him again this Thursday on the original date that sold out. It makes me wonder if he will play the same songs, new songs, or what will happen. I want someone that goes to tell me about the show!

Marilyn Manson is a pop culture icon, music legend, and someone with the fucking balls to do what he wants no matter what anyone says. I am a huge Marilyn Manson closet fan, people judge you for saying you like his music. Well I love it, respect it, and would see it any night of the week. I hope I hear all about Thursday night, email me if you were there!
