I went to Seattle on Wednesday to see the Robert Plant and Allison Krauss at the Wamu Theater (check out Jason’s review of the show here). The day before the show I was browsing around Pollstar.com to see what else was going on in Seattle that night. To my surprise I saw that Mission of Burma was playing a Neumos that night. I went to their website and called the venue to find out details about the show. When I was talking to the lady from Neumos I mentioned that I would love to take a few photos of the show for the music blog you are reading right now. She had no problem with it and put my name on the list. I once read when I was a kid that Mission of Burma was one of the bands that is the reason that Spin magazine was started. Since I’ve read that as I went out and explored Mission of Burma and was a fan ever since.

I left the Robert Plant and Allison Krauss show early and got in a cab to head down to Neumos. It was a treat to be at this show. Mission of Burma was going to play their legendary album Vs. in its entirety. The band rocked and the show was fantastic. The crowd was very excited and patient. At the beginning of the show the band could not get a guitar amp working and had to borrow an amp from the opening band that made the show start late. Nobody seemed to mind. The show was awesome and they just tore through classic songs. After the show the band tore down their own equipment and stayed around to meet and talk to anyone that wanted to stay around.
