IPhone Light Show
Matt had to work late at his day job so we missed First Class Favorite and only caught the last song of Plugin Stereo. What we heard of Plugin Stereo was fun and the Big Dipper was packed and the crowd looked to be having a great time.
Ready...Set...Go... the night (for us) started out with The Ready Set. For one night the Bigger Dipper turned into a musical carnival full of rainbow-bright lights, cotton candy synthesized pop, and kids ages 12-17 all out of school for the summer. It was a sea of smoke machine smoke, Dutch Bro's Coffee Cups, and brightly colored tight v-neck tees.
The Big Dipper was packed to the gills with kids, their friends, and their parents. Don't lie grandma I totally saw you snapping photos with your camera phone. It was cool to watch The Ready Set through twenty different iPhones and cameras all on record.
The crowd was jacked to see these kids rock. The Ready Set was very pop, very electronic, and a little bit of rap thrown in here and there like sprinkles on your ice cream cone. It made me want to be 15 again, taking pictures of the inside of your friends nose and blowing bubblegum bubbles so big that when they pop it gets in your hair (these were all things we saw). The Ready Set had a great light show, energy, and even though I couldn't see the band that well it was a fun set.
I sat down in the back of The Big Dipper on their old church pews and took in the room including the screaming girls who were there to see Never Shout Never. As Christofer Drew himself said ...."where are my ladies at... (girls going nuts).... this song goes out to you... whats up girl....I've got a big crush on you...no you can't have my hat, my mom gave it to me." Wow this kid is happy and straight up in Spokane and to have good time. A little refreshing you don't get someone so chipper like that all the time.
They opened with "Happy" then played "Your Biggest Fan" for all his Bro-Fans. I have heard of Bromance but not Bro-Fans, new term I dig it. So going to use it on the boys! His electric guitar player Caleb killed the national anthem solo style on his guitar... very cool of them to play that even though the 4th of July passed... had the audience take off their hats and put a hand over their chest.
The crowd jumped, got groovy, just laughed, and had a good time. It was exciting to see that many kids out at a show. Not to mention I had a goodtime talking to them about local bands. Thank you Kelly/ERC Booking for bringing these kids in, not only was it a full crowd but a fun show!
