Suburban Legends and Reel Big Fish
Thursday January 7th at the Knitting Factory

suburban legendAfter taking a bit of a break for the holidays it was a little hard to get out of the house but once the show started it was totally worth it. The first band we caught was Suburban Legends a 6 piece ska band that was so much fun to watch. From the moment they got on stage to the last song; they had more energy then a first grade class that was given a bag full of candy and a 24 case of Mountain Dew. They have fun on stage and that makes the show just a million times better.

I think my favorite part about their set was how they would do choreographed dances with songs and act along to them. The main singer even asked the crowd to join in and complemented all of us saying we "sound like angels." It was cool to look around the crowd and see kids from 8 to 60 just bopping along.

This is the kind of band I would see any day of the week, you can rely on them for a spunky fun show that you can dance to and let loose - which is what concerts should be all about. As the name of their new album, I would love to be friends with Suburban Legend.

reel big fishI have never seen Reel Big Fish but knew the name and saw it everywhere. I didn't know what I was missing out on - shame on me for not seeing these guys before! They were a blast; every band on the Warped Tour should be like these guys! It is sassy, fast, and has the instant satisfaction of a digital download. They put me in such a great mood!

The second the drumstick hit the drums it was one after another with some laughs and a lot of dancing! The crowd looked like a bunch of pop rocks that had been sprayed with cola it was loud and nuts. Reel Big Fish even managed to sneak in a little Enter to Sandman, how’s bout that girls and boys!

The band had quite the personality as well saying how they just wish to be as popular as the Kottonmouth Kings. I would say they kicked KMK's ass. A minute later one of the guys asked "who the fuck are they anyways?" Yep exactly, what he said.

reel big fishTheir music is something we can all relate to and sing along too. Ska bands give band kids a reason to be fucking bad asses. Plus RBF even has super cute bow ties, omg I know!

I can not wait to see these guys again this summer on a hot sunny day at Warped Tour! If you haven't seen them before make sure to catch them on Warped, I promise you that it will be a snazzy time!
