Bridge of Memories....(Sigh)
So how old are you, I asked Zac Fairbanks of the Booze Fighters. "24," he responds. I am blown away that a kid who is 24 can sing and play a guitar so well that it sounds "studio quality," as a gentlemen told him. The Booze Fighters know their blues/rock, the history of it, and how to play it. I did notice possibly a new drummer in the band, which isn't a bad thing. It was cool to see a local Spokane band like that open up for such a big name. Not only did they deserve it but they killed it. I can't wait to see The Booze Fighters again because I truly stood there in awe with my mouth open watching them own it up on stage like rock stars. The crowd dug it and they made sure to tell him after the show. Make sure you take a night out of your calendars to see this band play, it is music for all ages that is enjoyable and fun to see.
Speaking of all ages, the Knitting Factory was full of kids and adults. You could feel the excitement on the floor from people excited for the show to start. When it did there was dancing, hollering, clapping, singing, and more. I don't know a lot about blues and rock but it was cool to see Matt and the crowd so excited to see Robin Trower play. Matt put in a request to shoot this show because his dad played Bridge of Sighs a lot when he was a kid.
Matty told me:
To my Dad the album Bridge of Sighs was a night time album, and we spent a lot of nights listening to it. So the fact that the shoot was approved was amazing because it sounded great, he has a great band, and it brought back a lot of really fun childhood memories. Bridge of Sighs to me has always been pretty cool, musically it's flawless and it always made me feel cool because I got to listen to it with the grownups. I always knew my dad played it late so it was a big deal to get to stay up late once in a while and listen to the album. Not a lot of bands will come through that I can say that about. Being a music fan that was really cool and a pleasure to see.
I want to think Jen and Matt from the Knitting Factory, my dad who exposed me to really cool music when I was young, and Robin Trower for stopping by Spokane to play a show.
It was another great night of British artists at the Knitting Factory. When is it in two days that you get to see The Zombies, The Yardbirds and Robin Trower.
