When I was walking down to the show, I was not expecting a big crowd and anything spectacular I was just looking for some good live music. To my surprise when I walked through the big black doors at the Knitting Factory I walked into 1,200 thirteen thru seventeen year old sweaty kids all screaming and texting on their blackberry's and iPhones.
The first act Meg & Dia made my ears bleed, but the crowd seemed to like it. I thought Meg was a roadie and was surprised to hear her horribly pitched voice come across the loud speakers while the band was playing. After two songs I went to take a break in the lobby where I could still hear her voice through the walls...ugh.
"Hi my name is John, and were Secondhand Serenade..." YUCK! Oh my this guy looked like a preppy slightly emo version of the singer of Static X. From what I have heard on the radio to what I heard there... the band needs some singing lessons. I will say the blackberry's and iPhones did
go black for a while and the crowd was defiantly enjoying the main act, but this mess of frosted hair and ripped jeans was not my cup of tea. I do not even know how to describe them, it wasn't rockin' and it wasn'tgood ... it was just blah.
Good for them for getting an almost sold out crowd in Spokane though... on a school night at that.
