The Jealous Sound and Sunny Day Real Estate
The Knitting Factory on Thursday, October 15th 2009

sunny day real estateI was hoping the Knitt would be fuller then it was but, I will say the crowd that was occupying the bar and floor were true music fans who knew how important this show was going to be.

Last night was 1995 all over again. The Jealous Sound was the perfect icing for the cake, or in other words the perfect opening band. They fit Sunny Day's sound, they had sweet vocals with an edgy rough alt rock sound.

They seemed genuinely excited to be playing at the show. I kind of asked myself why isn't this band being played on the radio? It appeals to both sexes and is light enough but still packs a hooky punch.

I really like their song "The Fold Out," it sucked me right in and is currently being played over and over in my head. Even though the tickets to the show said 8:30 and it started at 8pm I still got to catch a good chunk of their set. I would most certainly see these guys again.

I am extremely thankful that I was able to catch Sunny Day Real Estate live. I was a lil' tike in first grade when Diary came out, never ever did I think I was going to see this band; granted I didn't find out about them until I was teen.

There were tikes, kids, teens, adults, parents, and grandparents at the show last night. Family and friends were there to support Dan, along with Spokane. He kept saying how much this show meant to him. Being 15 years since their self titled album, pink album, or LP2 (which ever you wish to call it) came out, they picked a lot of tracks off it to play.

sunny day real estateWe also got to here a new track they have been working on titled "10." Hearing them say they have been working on new music put the biggest smile on my face because yes I want to hear the old songs but I am all for them putting out a new album.

My night was complete when I heard "In Circles," during their encore in which they didn't leave the stage they just stayed and played it - loved it. They are such a cool mellow track one rockin track two band that has their own sound and distinct vocals.

I look forward to new music from them at least I am crossing my fingers! Oh and the show... it was fantastic - should of been there!
