Every time we see The Globes they get sharper and cleaner. The last two times we have seen them they have packed the Empyrean with fans that mouth the words to their songs and nod their heads.
The guys do their own thing and take a creative contemporary approach to the indie scene with simply complex tunes. I think “Hide” is a must have track for any iPod, and so is “Little Slickers.” Their guitar player was having some issues with the weather and his guitar, so the Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band front man let him use his.
We have seen the Globes a few times before but they are just one of those local gems we don’t mind seeing any night of the week. They are very kind smart musicians.
Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band had been trying to play with the Globes for a long time now and they were very excited that the time had finally come. They dedicated their set to the singer in Portrait for a Gentlemen as well. It was the last night of their 5 week tour; they were ready to go home but still went out with a bang.
Full of sass and spunk they ripped apart the stage. To this day they have the craziest drummer that is such a blast to watch. Their music is one of a kind and hard not to dance too. We will always see this band when they come to town. They are just simple people that make killer music.
This is the point in their career where it will explode. “This may have been your last time to catch this band in a small venue” said Matt. They closed out their set with everyone’s favorite Albatross, Albatross, Albatross and that was all she wrote.
