kaylee coleCavemen Are Cool

It was so great to see Kaylee Cole play again. It is always fun to hear what she has to say, every time I see her she gets the crowd laughing. Tonight Kaylee was joined by the talented Dane Ueland and together they impressed the crowd with a smooth set. Karli also sang a song with Kaylee and Dane, the three sound great together. I am excited because Kaylee mentioned that she has a new track done which she can't share with us but, played a scaled down version of it and I liked it so I can only hope I get to hear the new version soon. Kaylee has the personality and the talent to make anyone enjoy her music. Her whimsical piano playing is a treat in itself. Perfect for any music lover by herself or with her band hea over to her myspace and see when you can catch one of her shows. You won't regret it.

Karli Fairbanks has rich folk alternative country vocals. She can impress an audience of any type. I have seen Karli many times but I never get board with her set or music. There is always a new song or aspect to it. Whether it's an original or a cover song she hits it right on the nose. During Karli's last song she brought a bag full of mini instruments to hand out to people in the crowd to play. I thought that was a great idea and it didn't sound bad, the crowd knew their rhythm. It is always fun to be able to participate at a show, I know it's one of my favorite things about going out. After Karli's last song she had everyone pick up their chairs and move them to the back of the room. She told us things were going to get a bit more lively, and they did.

the cave singersThe Cave Singers made sure everyone in the Empyrean were stomping their feet during their set. They have this ability musically to make your ears and mind get wrapped up in their music moving your body. Each song had this rich heavy beat that was very addictive. The three boys were very down to earth and friendly and their personalities shined through their music. Their singer was talking about his Irish Car Bomb of a shot of white wine in Guinness beer. He then says "the white wine is speaking to me," as his cheeks were glowing on stage. He was funny.  I loved how almost every other song their singer would grab a different instrument to play. Once it was a maraca then a harmonica, tambourine, a keyboard-horn, and even their drummer rocked a washboard. I caught myself dancing the entire time to their mountainish folk music and hitting my hands to the beat on the railing of the stairway. Their guitar player was fantastic; I was really impressed watching him play. He used his feet almost as much as his hands to hit different pedals for his guitar. The entire band was moving super fast. All the sudden after a song they were done and said thank you. The crowd loved them so much they kept saying play more play more so sure enough they came back on stage and played a few more songs acoustic style. I only say acoustic style because their drummer rocked an acoustic guitar instead of the drums. I can't wait to see The Cave Singers again even if I need to travel to Seattle to do so. I had a great time at their show and I am sure the full crowd at the Empyrean did too.
