Wig Bash 2009
3.28.2009 - The Blvd - Spokane,WA

After our nice little walk to the BLVD we arrived and to my surprise (honestly) there were only four other people wearing wigs by the end of the night. It’s a WIG Bash people wear a wig… live life on the edge have some fun, I mean I know it’s not October 31st but still?! I stood out (once again) and got more attention than I would ever have wanted. The place was a little over half full but by the end of the night it was full, which was good because that was the last concert you will ever see at the original Blvd. We missed Truckasauras which bummed me out, but I will see them again! See Me River was getting set up when we arrived and I was excited. Their goth lyrics were hidden behind beautiful acoustic sounds that I instantly fell in love with. They were talented musicians with an original take on alt country. After clapping my hands and dancing to the rest of their set, Cyrus Fell Down was up next.

Cyrus Fell Down is something so different from anything I have ever heard/seen. The first thing that surprised me was how their bass player rocked the bass only on the neck – his two hands were never more than 5 inches apart. All three members of the band are just fast playing talented kids that can make it seem like there are more people on stage with them. Their music works for them, somehow they pull off this electronic sound but its rock/punk. You need to see them live to get where I am coming from. The band is from Pullman so I am sure they will be performing through Spokane again and when they do, make sure you go. You will have the time of your life.

Anytime I hear someone talk about a SHIM concert the first thing I hear is the lights when you see them live are awesome, and by golly they were. It was about 1am by the time SHIM took the stage with their strobe lights, bright triangle lights, and smoke machines. They rocked the last performance on the Blvd stage like they were at a sold out arena show in New York City. SHIMThey were fast moving pure Rock music from Seattle; these boys knew how to put on a good show. Their sound was polished and I won’t be surprised if one day I do actually see these guys in an arena setting. This morning I went to their Myspace again so I could rock out while I was writing this review, and they sounded just like they did last night – proving that they are truly talented. I plan on seeing these guys again and again.

Overall the Wig Bash 09 was a great concert and we saw three different bands that all sounded great. I think it was a cool way to close the Blvd. and hopefully we can see these bands play at the new Blvd soon. Note to the reader, I guess kids don’t wear wigs to a Wig Bash.
